Higher productivity
Single sign-on gives users access to all the services they may need, logging in only once. By inserting a smart card and entering a PIN, a user gains immediate access to his or her systems and applications, as well as websites that require logon.
When logging off, the user simply removes the card and exits the session - for the day, for a coffee break or when moving to another computer. Back at the workstation, the user can immediately resume work in the same session by inserting the card and entering a PIN, thanks to single sign-on.
In stressful job situations, such as in health care, the current access cards with codes, user names and passwords reduce both efficiency and security. Entry access control and logon using smart cards make life a lot easier for users.
Most users need to log on to at least three or four applications a day, often repeatedly. Some as many as 15 to 20. Besides being annoying, this means extra work. Users tend to forget or mix up their passwords, and have to call their helpdesk for assistance.
With Net iD, users access the resources they need easily and securely signing in only once, resulting in more productive work.
