Secure login in the cloud with smart cards

Posted by SecMaker, filed under News.

SecMaker has entered a partnership with IT service supplier SineQra Solutions surrounding smart card login in Microsoft’s cloud-based services. Through this partnership, SineQra Solutions will be the first to offer users of Microsoft Azure, Office 365 and other cloud-based services secure login and two-factor authentication with smart cards. The service, which is based on Net iD Enterprise, combines smart card-based login with SAML federation technology. This allows smart cards and PIN codes to be used for primary login to the cloud, with single sign-on (SSO) to all underlying services.

Through this partnership with SineQra and Microsoft, we can present a service that offers full IT security in the cloud while simultaneously meeting user demands for ease and flexibility. SineQra’s offer also makes it simple for organizations that have already invested in Net iD, smart cards and PKI to benefit from the advantages of federation in a cost-efficient way.

– The service is complete and includes operation, maintenance and system monitoring for a fixed rate per user and month. One group we are focusing on is private companies in the healthcare sector, who’ve opened their eyes to cloud-based services. Through integration with the county council SITHS concept, healthcare providers are offered secure access to protected information such as patient records and prescription portals in the cloud. This enables us to meet high demands from the healthcare sector for patient safety, accessibility and cost-efficiency, says Lennart Johansson, CEO of SineQra.
