”That will work in the coming version”…

Posted by SecMaker, filed under Blog.

SecMaker has for a long time had both official and unofficial collaborations with the international soft- and hardware suppliers. In most cases, the focus lies on solving the shortcomings that arise when you combine solutions from different suppliers.

Unfortunately it´s not always possible for us to solve all of these problems, we depend on our collaboration with the current supplier and that both parties get involved in the solution. In most cases this collaboration works well and makes it possible for us to offer better solutions regarding security and usability.

I´ve spent the last years working closely with Citrix to build intelligent solutions. Session-roaming with smart cards is one of the most used and appreciated solution by our customers. Citrix has started to integrate in more and more of that functionality and this is very appreciated. In the last releases of Receiver and Storefront there’s still some work to do.
“But all of that will be solved to the next version”…

After all, it is about how the end users perceive the solution. If it doesn’t work as intended, it creates frustration. We strive to provide accessibility, usability and security. These words are not always compatible. But the work we are doing with our technology partners is to achieve that. But it also means a lot of time for testing and verification. Sometimes we can solve the problems directly and sometimes we need to do it together.
“But we will solved that in the next version”…

I work close to our technical partners and know that it is a changing world we living in. But all parties, including us, strive to strengthen the offer and develop better products. Almost every day there are new updates available, for your computer, for the smartphone APPS or an upgrade for the operating system. We are used to having to “update the software” more or less every day. When a new generation of software is released it happens that functionality from the previous version is missing or works “better” than before. But if you want to be the market leader you might from time to time need to compromise on certain functionality.
“Because all of that will be available in the next version”…

In the newer versions of the Citrix-platform there are several fundamental changes made which we have been forced to adapt to get all the new functions in place. Me and my colleagues get questions on a daily basis about “FastConnect2”, which finally is in place, what’s working and what’s not. What is left to implement is support for from Citrix upcoming authentication SDK (Software Development Kit) that will be available Q4 2014. This means we will be able to handle sessions and reconnect to them much faster and smoother without losing functionality.
“But all of that is included in the next version”…
