Helse Vest, VGR’s counterpart in Bergen, Norway, has chosen Net iD Enterprise and smart cards as their security solution for all their employees. The public procurement that preceded the choice of supplier was won by Atea AS. Atea was entrusted with the assignment after having demonstrated its simplicity and quick user sign-on, decentralized card management via Net iD Card Portal, and the generic support for components in Windows and Citrix architecture.
Other participants in the project were Buypass, Res Software, Citrix and Wyse.
Net iD Enterprise and smart cards have been used for some time as the primary sign-on method by Nye Akershus University Hospital in Oslo, St. Olavs Hospital in Trondheim and within the healthcare sector in the municipalities of Bergen and Oslo. Just as in Sweden, a combination of internally issued certificates for local sign-on and qualified certificates for secure interregional information exchange was used.
